Western Area Career & Technology Center Continues to Provide Students with Unique Learning Opportunities

Technology Center ( WACTC ), nestled within the Canonsburg community , vocational and technical education shines as a beacon for students eager to excel in their chosen fields . WACTC offers unparalleled opportunities , honing skills that prepare students for promising careers including automotive technology , cosmetology , culinary arts , healthcare and more , making it an excellent institution for those pursuing a hands-on learning
42 CANON-MAC experience . Among its many initiatives to recognize and foster student excellence is the prestigious Student of the Month award . This accolade , determined by the Positive Behavior Intervention and Support ( PBIS ) team , celebrates not just academic achievements but also the hard work , dedication and positive impact students make in their community .
This honor is a testament to a student ' s overall contribution , taking into account several critical criteria
including attendance and grades at both WACTC and their sending high school , participation in sports and extracurricular activities , community service , leadership , cooperative education participation , peer mentorship and certifications acquired at WACTC .
Ayden Koenig , the current Student of the Month , has surpassed expectations in every category . Not only has he excelled academically , but his engagement outside the classroom is equally commendable . Ayden has been actively involved in extracurricular activities , demonstrating leadership within his program and serving as a peer mentor to underclassmen . His commitment to community service and participation in activities outside of the classroom further illustrates his wellrounded character .
Perhaps what sets Ayden apart most are his achievements in the automotive field . Completing all of his Safety and Pollution Prevention ( SP2 ) training and acquiring sixteen I-CAR certifications , Ayden has demonstrated an exceptional level of expertise and dedication .
Through WACTC ' s cooperative education program , he is already making strides in the professional world , employed by Opeka Auto Repair . This practical experience complements his academic pursuits and provides a solid foundation for his future career .
Ayden plans on attending the University of Northwestern Ohio , where he aims to study High-Performance Engineering . This goal reflects his desire to continue learning and contributing to the automotive field .
