Former Youngstown , Ohio , resident Corey McDonald had been cutting the hair of family and friends for quite a while when his own barber gave him some advice about becoming a professional barber . Taking a scary leap into the future , McDonald then left Ohio to attend the Pittsburgh Barber School .
As his barbering skills progressed , he was asked to give classes at Hattori Hanzo Shears where he lectured on the importance of continuing education and quality barber tools . In 2020 , McDonald made the decision to open his own shop , and he hasn ’ t looked back .
McDonald loves all barbering techniques , with the layered cut his favorite . He is excited to see what the future holds for the hair industry and can ’ t wait to see what will come next . “ It ’ s constantly changing , and I ’ m so glad to be a part of it .”

Canonsburg Barbershop is the oldest full-service standing barbershop in the borough . Built in 1965 by legendary barber Richard Ziack , current owner Brandon Robertson ’ s primary goals are to carry on the old-school barbershop traditions and to honor Ziack ’ s legacy .
Offering a wide variety of haircutting services including scissor cut , bald fade , and flat top , as well as straight razor shaves and beard maintenance , Robertson accommodates men and boys of all ages , and is one of the few Canonsburg barbershops to allow walk-ins .
Finally , Robertson wants to extend a welcome to all Canonsburg residents to stop in anytime for a cup of coffee and conversation whether they need a haircut or not . This is the atmosphere he wants to cultivate : a place to not only get a shave and a haircut , but a place to meet friends and family — the oldschool barbershop feel .
