North Strabane Township has been recognized by the National Weather Service as the first in Washington County to be a Stormy Ready Community. What this means is the Fire Department, Emergency Management Team and The Township have put in place the equipment and trained personnel to adequately receive and disseminate important weather information to the residents of North Strabane. The North Strabane Fire Department offers on site Extinguisher Training for all businesses with in North Strabane Township. The North Strabane Fire Department has recently received several notable Certifications through the agencies pictured above. They are listed out below. • Recertification Through the Pennsylvania Department of Health as an Advanced Life Support Service through 2021- The agency operates (2) Advanced Life Support Units and (2) Basic Life Support Units. • Recertification as Gold Level Participating Department for the Voluntary Firefighter Training certification program. The certification offered through Office of the State Fire Commissioner recognizes departments for their dedication to training. at the Gold, 100% of the department is trained to the minimum standard. North Strabane is 1 of only 39 departments in the state to meet the Gold level. • Certification as a Voluntary Rescue Service recognition Program in both Vehicle Rescue and Swiftwater Rescue. These 2 certifications indicate that the department meets the training and equipment requirement set forth by the Rescue Task Force of Pennsylvania Emergency Health Services Council.
