TOWN HALL SOUTH
SPEAKERS SERIES
Town Hall South, which began in
1969, features five lectures that are held in
the Upper St. Clair High School Theatre
from 10:10-11:10 a.m.
For the 2019-2020 season, the
scheduled array of speakers will be:
Oct. 1–Lou Holtz, legendary football
coach, ESPN sports analyst and
renowned motivational speaker; Nov.
5–Beth Macy, award-winning journalist
with a focus on social problems including
the opioid crisis; Dec. 3–Alan Zwiebel,
Emmy Award-winning comedy writer
including for “Saturday Night Live”;
Feb. 4–Vijay Gupta, violinist/educator/
mental health advocate; and March 17–
Lynsey Addario, Pulitzer Prize-winning
photojournalist, focused on war, injustice,
resilience and humanity.
An optional luncheon at St. Clair
Country Club is held immediately
following the lecture, and the speaker is
available to answer questions from the
audience—which frequently leads to a
very candid exchange! Tickets for the
2019-2020 season are sold as a series

THE ABBEY PLAYERS PRESENT 10TH YEAR
ANNIVERSARY SHOWCASE
This season marks The Abbey Players’ 10th year as a community theater troupe,
sponsored by St. Benedict the Abbot. Over the years, the group has put on many
full-scale productions and contributed thousands of dollars to various charities
including Relay For Life and CCFA.
On Saturday, Nov. 24, The Abbey Players celebrated with a 10th Year Anniversary
Showcase that featured performances from troupe members past and present. The
concert began at 2 p.m. and was held in the Pope Benedict Center. Donations were
collected to benefit the Peters Township Food Pantry.

recycling collections and education
programs.
Keep Pennsylvania Beautiful partners
with PennDOT, the Department of
Environmental Protection, and Keep
America Beautiful to provide free trash
bags, gloves, and safety vests to registered
participants, as supplies last. During Let’s
Pick It Up PA—every day from April 13
through May 6—cleanups registered with
the Great American Cleanup of PA are
eligible to take their trash to participating
landfills free of charge or at a reduced rate.
