EAGLE SCOUT BUILDS
AND INSTALLS PICNIC

Samuel O’Bryan, a junior at Canon-
McMillan High School, recently earned the
rank of Eagle Scout with Troop 1393. For his
Eagle Scout service project, Samuel led a work
crew that built and installed six benches and
a picnic table for the Hills-Hendersonville
Elementary School playground. The school
is the one he had attended. His team of
volunteers also weeded and edged the mulch
beds flanking the school entrance. Samuel is
the son of Kevin and Noelle O’Bryan and has
earned 51 merit badges. During his scouting
career, he’s been a patrol leader, assistant
senior patrol leader, and senior patrol leader.
He is a member of Scouting’s National Honor
Society, the Order of the Arrow.

Jameson’s Army will host its Fifth Annual
Green Heart Gala on Friday, April 7, from
6 – 11 p.m., at LeMont in Pittsburgh. Emceed
by WDVE morning host, Bill Crawford, the
Green Heart Gala will honor the annual
Green Heart Award winner and Soldier
Award winner. Last year’s Green Heart Gala
welcomed approximately 400 guests and
raised over $40,000 for the Jameson’s Army
organization.

The 2nd Annual Southwestern
Pennsylvania Special Needs Fair & Expo will
take place on Saturday, April 29, from 11 a.m.
to 3 p.m., at 50 Donati Road in Bethel Park.
The event, which is free
and open to the public,
is geared toward
children and young adults
with special needs and their
family members, caregivers
and guardians. It features both
indoor and outdoor activities and will take
place rain or shine.
Some of the fair activities already planned
for this year include performances by Angels
of the Heart, opportunities to climb aboard
various emergency vehicles, playtime with
therapy dogs, face painting and more.
In addition to enjoying the activities
presented by the Expo Committee, attendees
are able to speak with professionals
representing a wide range of services and
obtain informational materials. Many of the
vendors also have giveaways and activities
planned.

THREE RIVERS QUILTERS
TO HOST ANNUAL QUILT
SHOW
The Three Rivers Quilters Guild will
present the 2017 Quilt Show April 27-29 at
a new location, the Meadows Racetrack and
Casino Special Event Center, 210 Racetrack
Road, Washington. This colorful show will
feature over 100 quilts created by fabric artists
from far and wide. Quilts will range from
miniature to bed size, done in many different
techniques. In addition, there will be ongoing
quilting demonstrations, a sewing-related
“Granny’s Attic” and many vendors with
quilt-related items. The show will run April 27
from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Apr. 28 from 10 a.m.
to 7:30 p.m.; and Apr. 29 from 9:30 a.m. to 4
p.m. Cost is $10 per person, with special $5
admission after 3 p.m. on Friday.
This year’s theme is “Two Color Quilts.”
The juried and judged show is open to all
quiltmakers. Ribbons and cash prizes will

PAINTING WITH A TWIST
SCAVENGER HUNT
Painting with a Twist is hosting a free
local neighborhood scavenger hunt on April
29. All studios in the western Pennsylvania
region are participating and it’s a great way
to meet your local studio owners as well as
local businesses—and have fun doing it! Each
studio will have its
own unique set of
rules and prizes to
promote the fun
in their respective
neighborhoods, and
an after-party will follow to keep the night
alive! Even if you’ve never Painted with a
Twist before, contact the studio nearest you to
find out what all the fun is about. What Twist
will they throw your way?
Teams will be in groups of two, three or
four, and drivers must be 18 years or older.
Bring a person who has never Twisted before
and score extra points! Neighborhood
knowledge will win you the most points,
