CANONSBURG ’ S JONNY SNIDER BRINGS HOME 1ST PLACE TROPHY FROM ‘ SCRAPFEST 14 ’ METAL ART COMPETITION
Jonny Snider of Canonsburg won first place in the small sculpture category at ScrapFest 14 in Lansing , Michigan . Competing for the third time , Jonny ’ s piece this year , titled “ Steele Ryder ,” earned him the top spot .
Last year , he collaborated with his friend Mike Beaver , from Elizabeth — who he encouraged to also participate in the competition — on a piece called “ Merging Frontiers ,” but this year they competed individually . Mike also did well , securing second place with his piece , “ The Chrysalis Crypt .”

HONORING FAMILY
Fredric G . Bender , a member of the Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War ( SUVCW ) Camp # 120 in Washington , participated in a Memorial Day ceremony honoring his second great-grandfather ,
John Arnold , at Oak Spring Cemetery in Canonsburg .
Bender noted that SUVCW camps nationwide , with around 6,000 members , are required to conduct at least one grave ceremony for a Civil War veteran each Memorial Day .
WOMEN OF SOUTHWESTERN PA , INC . HOLDS ANNUAL GOLF OUTING
WOMEN of Southwestern PA , Inc . held its 4th golf outing at Valley Brook Country Club on May 6 . There were prizes for various teams as well as skill competitions .
Lunch , dinner and refreshments on the course were provided along with door prizes and raffles . Eagle , Birdie , Beverage , Events and Golf Ball were some of the sponsorship opportunities available .
The golf outing raised nearly $ 39,790 . Consider joining in next year !
WOMEN of SWPA has so far awarded 39 grants in 2024 for a total of $ 114,000 to 501 ( c )( 3 ) charities that support women and children in need in our region .
It has distributed $ 1.1 million in grants over a 24-year span .
On Jan . 31 , 2025 , the organization will be celebrating 25 years during its annual Symphony of Food fundraiser at Bella Sera Event Villa and Catering .

LABOURÉ LADIES GUILD TO HOST ANNUAL CRAFT SHOW
The Labouré Ladies Guild will hold its annual “ Joy of Christmas ” craft show on Saturday , Nov . 23 , from 9 a . m . to 3:30 p . m . at St . Louise de Marillac School and LeGras Parish Center , located at 320 McMurray Road in Upper St . Clair .
There will be more than 100 artists and craftsmen , a bake sale , crafts , a raffle , 50 / 50 , and lunch and snacks available for purchase . The $ 2 admission includes a ticket for the craft raffle . n
