A Message From Peggy Tseng , Library Director
Promoting literacy for all ages is one of our most important objectives at Frank Sarris Public Library – no matter the season . This year ’ s Summer Reading theme , Tails and Tales , focused on stories within the animal kingdom and our library had a “ roaring ” good time presenting our summer programs . Nearly 400 individuals participated in our Summer Reading Challenge . Our Summer Quest Camp was also wellattended and our campers learned about a variety of different animals and their habitats . Now , as we are transitioning into fall , our library staff is preparing to bring our community several exciting events . Whether you are an adult , child , or teenager , we have an upcoming major event that you will want to attend .
Starting Wednesday , September 29 , we are opening our satellite location at the Community Room in Printscape Arena at Southpointe . Each Wednesday from 4 p . m . until 8 p . m . we will host programs like Pre-K Discovery and Family Story Time . There will be other events scheduled throughout the year .
Our library has also developed a new partnership with WQED to participate in the Ready to Learn Initiative . This initiative promotes early learning and school readiness for children ages 2-8 . Meet Molly of Denali at our kickoff celebration on Saturday , September 25 , at Frank Sarris Public Library . This event is a must for families with children ages Pre-Kindergarten to second grade . Events will be going on from 1 – 4 p . m . Each child in attendance will receive a drawstring backpack and a book .
One event we are especially excited to announce is “ Frank Sarris Public Library Presents Comic Hero Weekend .” We have a weekend of events dedicated to your favorite fandoms . Join us for FSPL Comic Hero Night at the Pennsylvania Trolley Museum on Friday , October 1 , for a family event that will include trolley rides , junior hero training and more ! Keep the rest of your

weekend clear for FSPL FanFest on Saturday , October 2 , and Sunday , October 3 . This is an all-ages celebration of comic books , graphic novels , anime and pop-culture and includes an artist / vendor area , workshops , fan art contest , cosplay contest , trivia , escape room and more . Tickets for these events can be purchased through our website , www . franksarrislibrary . org , and costume wearing is encouraged . Speaking of costumes , remember to attend our all-ages Halloween Spectacular Trick or Treat Walkthrough on Saturday , October 30 . Guests can walk through our first floor , stopping by our themed tables to get early Halloween treats .

We are open for in-person services but please remember :
• Our drop box for returned items has moved . It is now located on Murdock Street . Look out for the bright blue book depository .
• Patrons can browse our Adult , Children and Young Adult collections on the first floor . Patrons can also use our computers as well as copy and fax documents . For our prices regarding services like printing and faxing , please visit our website .
• Computers and study rooms are first-come , first-served . Computers are limited to one hour per patron . Due to social distancing requirements , staff are temporarily not able to offer assistance on the computers . Study rooms are limited to two hours per patron , and occupancy , at this time , is one person / room . We ask that all patrons please be mindful of others when using either a computer or a study room .

Starting September 29 , join our staff each Wednesday from 4 p . m .– 8 p . m . at the Community Room in Printscape Arena at Southpointe for the following activities :
Pre-K Discovery – Your child will enjoy songs , stories and games . Each class is a chance to practice kindergarten readiness skills such as listening during stories , early literacy skills and following directions . Ages 4-5 . 4 p . m .– 4:30 p . m .
Family Story Time – Families are encouraged to participate in this program for stories and fun . 7 p . m .– 7:30 p . m .
