Fellini ’ s Pizzeria

Growing by the Slice

The first Fellini ’ s Pizzeria opened its doors in Bethel Park in 2008 , under the ownership of Matt and Dan Labutis , converting another former pizza shop into their vision of what pizza should be . Since then , the brothers have expanded to six different locations surrounding Pittsburgh . They brought in Matt Lovas as a district supervisor , who has helped oversee the explosive growth of the family-owned chain , as well as to develop franchising capabilities for anyone else looking to capitalize on undeniably good food and service .

“ My brother and I both have prior restaurant experience and have been in the business since our teens ,” Matt Labutis said . “ These are all of our recipes , everything from scratch , but we based the business off of excellent customer service coupled with quality food . You can have great food , but the customer service is where we strive and succeed . Everyone has issues ; it ’ s how you handle it for your customers that makes all the difference .”
From pizza and hoagies to the customer-favorite Twisters , Fellini ’ s Pizzeria has a menu that caters to everyone .
“ Our menu is all our own , things we came up with over the years . Every recipe is our own and people love it ,” Matt added . “ If you look in the online food forums and message boards , people refer to our sauce as the ‘ Magic Sauce .’ I ’ ll be the first to admit that it ’ s a good sauce , but I ’ m not sure what makes it magic . But hey , if people want to call it Magic Sauce , that ’ s fine with us .”
Fellini ’ s isn ’ t just looking to grow its customer base even more , it ’ s looking for partners to expand the business as a whole via franchising .
“ After Bethel Park , we expanded in White Oak in 2010 , and then kept expanding as much as we could . It ’ s been a long journey , lots of years , but it ’ s not over by a long shot ,” Matt said . “ We want to have at least 10 more locations in the next three to five years in new neighborhoods all over the region .”
Fellini ’ s Pizzeria ’ s expansion not only brings the menu to new customers , it also varies customer experience from location to location . All locations deliver and offer take-out , but some have sit-down dining available as well . Catering is the next thing the family is looking to add once they get to a point where they can take a breather and make sure they can do it right .
“ We were going to start catering in our Canonsburg location , but business took off so fast we never got a chance to get it up and running ,” Matt explained . “ It ’ s something we ’ re definitely looking to provide our customers , but we have our hands full right now with regular orders , daily specials and all the rest . We ’ re growing . We ’ re a family business and to survive in this world , you have to make sure you ’ re 100 percent in everything you do .”
