CURBSIDE LEAF
COLLECTION
PROGRAM AND
SCHEDULE
The township’s annual curbside
leaf collection program will
be offered starting October
23rd. Residents are reminded
to rake or deposit all leaves at
the curb or edge of property
where collection will take place
by township personnel. Under
no circumstances are leaves to
be raked or deposited on the
street. Township ordinance strictly
prohibits the burning of leaves.
Questions regarding collection can
be directed to the Public Works
Department at 724.745.1404.
REMINDER: our garbage hauler
does not collect leaves.
HARRY HAYMAN, PUBLIC WORKS DIRECTOR, recently retired after 16 years of
service with North Strabane Township. Mr. Hayman began his duties with the township
in 2000. During his tenure, he was responsible for planning, directing and overseeing
work of a ten member department. Major responsibilities included paving and
maintenance of over 75 miles of roadways. Winter maintenance and snow removal
operations were always completed in a timely manner under his oversight. The Board
of Supervisors commends Mr. Hayman for a job extremely well done, and extends best
wishes to him and his family for an enjoyable and healthy retirement.
With the retirement of Mr. Hayman, TOM LOVELL was hired by the township in June
as the new Public Works Director. Mr. Lovell was previously the Director of Public Works
for Jefferson Hills and the City of Washington. Tom started his career in public works for
Peters Township and previously had worked in construction and project management.
He brings 20 years of experience in municipal public works, parks and recreation, and
sanitary sewers.
Tom and his wife reside in Venetia. Their daughter recently accepted a teaching
position in North Carolina. Tom loves hunting, fishing, gardening and trying his hand at
micro brewing.
The Township wishes him success in his new position.
