Brentwood Borough Tightens Code Enforcement to Protect Property Values and Foster Responsible Growth

Brentwood Borough is implementing a significant shift in its approach to code enforcement, moving away from a cooperative, multi-chance system toward immediate, firm action against property maintenance violations and business non-compliance. The move signals a renewed commitment from the Borough Council to protect community aesthetics, property values, and municipal resources. cKeesport rentwood

Brentwood Park received an exciting upgrade this summer with the installation of a brand-new scoreboard. The project was approved by Borough Council earlier in the year and completed in August, replacing the aging unit that had served the field for many seasons.
Three local and regional sponsors— AHN Brentwood Neighborhood Hospital, Noble Environmental, and PA American Water— helped make the new scoreboard possible. Their generous support continues to enhance Brentwood Park as a place where the community comes together to play, cheer, and celebrate.

For years, Brentwood attempted to resolve code violations through a policy of leniency, offering repeat opportunities for property owners— both residents and landlords— to correct issues. Unfortunately, this method proved counterproductive, creating a burden on Borough staff and negatively impacting law-abiding neighbors.
" Effective immediately, Brentwood Borough will no longer offer repeated chances," the administration stated. " Property owners must take full responsibility. The Borough Solicitor is directly involved in enforcement, and Borough Council is united in support of this tougher approach." The clear message is that repeat offenders will face swift and direct legal action.
The enhanced enforcement is not limited to residential properties. The Borough is also addressing a pattern of non-compliance among new businesses that have " opened their doors " without completing the required permitting and processes. While Brentwood remains dedicated to economic development and welcoming new establishments, it expects all businesses to follow regulations, respect the community, and become long-term partners in maintaining a safe and vibrant town.
The Borough ' s commitment is clear: to build a community where residents, landlords, and businesses alike take pride in their involvement. The era of excuses and shortcuts is over.
