NEW COMPREHENSIVE PLAN
Brentwood Borough ’ s new Comprehensive Plan is approaching its finish line . Residents may recall completing a survey , attending a public meeting and / or interacting with project pop-ups at community events last year . All of the information collected during that first phase has helped determine priorities and direction for the plan . Since then , the project ’ s consulting team and Steering Committee have been hard at work refining and framing the plan ’ s key issues , conducting additional outreach and research and workshopping recommendations .
The plan will include detailed , practical action steps for 1 ) catalyzing further development of a thriving local business scene along Brownsville Road ; 2 ) growing the Borough ’ s reputation as a great place to live , work , visit and invest ; 3 ) building upon a network of safe , convenient and pleasant routes to travel on foot or bike ; 4 ) optimizing parking in both residential and commercial areas ; and 5 ) fortifying the tax base through development at key sites while preserving and enhancing the quality of neighborhoods .
Visit the project website at yourbrentwoodplan . com to comment on these issues and keep up with project updates . Following a public open house on November 2 , the Steering Committee will review and refine a draft plan document . The public will have the opportunity to review and comment on the draft this winter , as well as neighboring communities , the school district and Allegheny County . Finally , Borough Council will advertise and host a public hearing prior to voting on plan adoption . The final plan document will be a readable , graphics-rich playbook that the community can update as a living document for the coming decade . Then begins the most exciting part of the process : Implementation !
