things to know about :
BHS Alumna Emma Bronder
Emma Bronder , class of 2012 , is a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine in Eighty Four , PA .
A PONY CHANGED EVERYTHING .
When Emma Bronder was five years-old , she got what every child dreams of for her birthday : a pony . This gift was not only a moment of childhood bliss , but sparked a love that would carry Bronder into her future career .
SHE CARES FOR EVERYTHING FROM PUPPIES TO ALPACAS !
“ On an average day , I see small animals ( dogs and cats ) for routine checkups and surgeries . Then , I go out on farm calls for horses , and even goats , sheep , or alpacas . As a veterinarian you have the job of being surgeon , nurse , anesthetist , assistant , holder , behaviorist , receptionist , etc . Whether it be warm or cold , sunny or cloudy , raining or snowing , day or night , you always have to be prepared .”
VARIETY SPARKS HER CREATIVITY .
Bronder notes , “ The thing I enjoy most about my job is that it is never simple — every day you learn something new and you never know what ’ s going to be waiting for you when you get to the appointment .”
THE ACADEMIC RIGOR OF BHS PREPARED HER FOR COLLEGE .
Bronder recalls , “ Mr . Radomsky and Mr . Tietz structured their courses in such a way that they truly mimicked what I would see later on in college .”
HER TEACHERS NOT ONLY CONVEYED CONTENT , BUT MODELED DEDICATION AND JOY .
“ One of the biggest lessons I learned in high school was to choose a profession that you love , and you ’ ll be happy with your life . I was lucky to have such a wonderful group of teachers , who absolutely love what they do , and they showed me that just because it ’ s called work , it doesn ’ t mean you can ’ t also love it and look forward to it every day .” aldwin-Whitehall BALDWIN-WHITEHALL SCHOOL DISTRICT NEWS things
