Celebrating a New Year with a New School aldwin-Whitehall BALDWIN-WHITEHALL SCHOOL DISTRICT NEWS
Dear Friends and Families of Baldwin-Whitehall ,
This festive time of year is one of the busiest for our District . Our calendar is filled with exams , winter holiday performances and celebrations , and the grand opening of our brand new school — and you ’ re invited !
First , if you love holiday music , be sure to catch one of our students ’ upcoming musical revues . Each one of our bands , orchestras , wind ensembles , and choirs will grace the stage in December . In addition , the Baldwin High School Baldwinaires will perform at several events throughout our community , including visits to entertain seniors at St . Elizabeth ’ s and The Residence at Whitehall , plus performances at our community LightUpNight events .
Next , if you love holiday cookies , don ’ t miss our annual Holiday Cookie Extravaganza on Friday , December 15th . Every year , District volunteers bake hundreds of delicious cookies from scratch to share with area senior citizens . It ’ s a special holiday tradition that grows more festive with every year and includes tours and a festive musical program that will fill you with holiday spirit .
I would also like to extend a very special and sincere thank-you to the families and faculty who are preparing to move schools to R . A . Lutz Elementary School in January . Our District has been working hard

One of the best parts of serving on our Board is attending as many school and community events as possible . I truly enjoy meeting with fellow parents , and seeing our students compete on the field or court , perform as actors and musicians , and appreciating our teachers and staff for all that they do for our kids .
Thank you to all parents , teachers , administrators , students , and my fellow board members who planned and participated in the BWSD Parents as Allies " Unite & Ignite " event at J . E . Harrison Education Center on October 2 . It was a wonderful evening for everyone to meet and talk in an informal setting . I look forward to this event next year , and hope that all parents who are able will attend .
Our annual Homecoming Carnival and Bonfire was also a huge success and the rain didn ' t stop the hay rides , food trucks , or - — most importantly — the bonfire !
The BWEF saw a record turnout for its annual mini golf event at Cool Springs , a fundraiser to benefit our students and teachers . If you attended , you saw that the course and parking lot were full for the entire night . Other District updates :
40 BRENTWOOD-BALDWIN-WHITEHALL to bring this new building to life since 2019 , and we appreciate every ounce of support we have received from our incredible community during this complex project . If you ’ d like to learn more about our new school and see what the future of education in the Baldwin-Whitehall School District looks like , please join us for the official ribbon-cutting and grand opening of the R . A . Lutz Elementary School on Saturday , January 13th , when we will celebrate our community ’ s outstanding investment in our children ’ s future .
Thank you for everything you do to make our District so welcoming , supportive , and committed to helping our students succeed . The year Other 2023 was a year of new ideas new strategies to help our District icon evolve and I am excited to see how a new year — and a new school options — will help our community continue to grow in 2024 and beyond .

• We are excited for the opening of R . A . Lutz Elementary School in January ! We look forward to opening its doors so that the entire community has a chance to see it .
• The auditorium , art , and music rooms at J . E . Harrison Education Center will be fully renovated , starting in January .
• The new road behind Whitehall Elementary School is complete , allowing for a simpler student drop-off and pick-up process . The playground is also complete . The field behind WES was also fully stripped , renovated , re-graded , and seeded .
• Our softball field at Baldwin High School was renovated . While it is very difficult to ensure proper drainage of that field when it rains due to its location , the drainage system under the field was cleaned , new dirt was installed , and the field was properly graded .
• In the spring , we anticipate building brand new tennis courts for our teams , and will renovate the baseball field at Wallace .
On a personal note , my term as President will end on December 6 . It has been a pleasure serving as your Board President for these past two years . My sincere thanks to all fellow parents who took the time to contact me regarding issues of importance to you and your family , and to those who attend our Board meetings .
