Students Honored with Diversity Award Mrs. Linda Capozzoli Julianna Winkowski and Josh Gildea, two Brentwood High School juniors, were recognized by the Allegheny County Human Relations Commission this past May for a Diversity Award. Julianna and Josh hosted a Multicultural Fair at the elementary schools focusing on diversity and the literature from various cultures. Exploring the German Culture Mrs. Cynthia Hebestreit Numerous members of the German Club at Brentwood High School attended the evening performance of Marriage of Figaro at the Pittsburgh Opera. They are appreciating the many contributions that Germans have made to the arts over centuries. Mozart's comic opera, The Marriage of Figaro, is one of the most widely performed operas of all time. This was the German club's second visit to the Pittsburgh Opera. Interstellar F1 At the Brentwood Borough General Purpose meeting in October, the Interstellar F1 team was recognized for their efforts in the largest STEM competition in the world. The invitation to Malaysia marks the second international trip earned by a Brentwood team. Interstellar was led by Mr. Sedlar and Mrs. Hughes and the team consisted of two design engineers, Michael Casey and Morgan Dryburgh, communications manager/ specialist engineer, Grant Davis, manufacturing engineer, Ryan Schwarz, team manager, Destinee Kellner, and fundraiser/sponsorship Lindsey Powell. Over 1.3 million students from 26,000 schools competed worldwide in the F1 in schools Competition. The team placed 26 out of 51 teams at the world level. The Brentwood Borough School District Board of Directors presented each member with a certificate of recognition along with a poem to commemorate the team’s efforts. 56 Brentwood-Baldwin-Whitehall
