borough news Refuse Discount Program Available Brentwood Borough is pleased to offer its utility customers the opportunity to save nearly 17% on trash collection and recycling fees. Residents can receive twelve months of refuse service for the price of ten by enrolling in our prepayment discount program. To participate, customers must, by February 5th, submit both the full amount listed on the combined utility bill and the prepayment total. Based upon a projected 2018 trash and recycling charge of $19 per month, it is estimated that the prepayment total will be equal to $171. For example, if a resident’s January bill amounts to $70, simply submit $70 + $171 = $241 either through our lockbox P.O. address or via the electronic payment module hosted on the Borough website. The refuse line item will be removed from all remaining 2018 utility invoices. Such payment will yield a savings of $38. Please note that customers are only eligible to participate if all delinquent sewage and refuse charges are satisfied by the February 5th due date. 40 Brentwood-Baldwin-Whitehall Enhanced Utility Billing & Collections System to Debut Changes are coming to your Brentwood Borough sewage & refuse bill this January! In response to customer feedback regarding unnecessary complexities with the existing process, our municipality is preparing to enter into an agreement with a new vendor. Residents will receive an improved bill that contains an intuitive, simplified format. Our new provider will also support a paperless invoicing option, which will allow customers to reduce household clutter while simultaneously helping to protect our environment. Brentwood will offer three easy payment options. Customers can continue to detach the perforated coupon from the paper bill and mail with a check to our post office box address in the enclosed return envelope. Individuals will also have the option to save a stamp by depositing checks at a convenient drop box at the local branch of the selected financial institution. The Borough will also host a no frills, easy-to-use electronic payment system on its website, which will allow for the seamless processing of debit and credit card transactions. This revised system is designed to greatly improve the customer experience while concurrently saving money for Brentwood taxpayers through a reduction of banking fees. Successful Sidewalk Restoration Program Enters Fourth Year Brentwood Borough is committed to ensuring that residents can safely and efficiently utilize local sidewalk infrastructure to reach our shops, schools, and transit stops. In recognition of the often prohibitive price of concrete rehabilitation, our municipality sponsors a Shared Cost Sidewalk Restoration Program. Through the competitive bidding process, the Borough attains the services of a single contractor to complete sidewalk repairs at a discounted bulk unit price. Residents can also apply to receive matching fund to cover one-half of the cost of all labor and materials associated with the reconstruction of defective slabs. It is anticipated that, in 2018, sidewalk improvements will take place along Pyramid Avenue, Sankey Avenue, Burdine Avenue, and Willowhaven Drive. Eligible property owners will receive a notification and preliminary cost estimate in December.
