INSPIRING FUTURE EDUCATORS : TAKE YOUR CHILD TO WORK DAY AT ELROY ELEMENTARY rentwood Borough SCHOOL DISTRICT NEWS
Elroy Elementary recently celebrated Take Your Child to Work Day with resounding success , as teachers across the school welcomed their children into the classroom to experience firsthand the joys and challenges of teaching .
This special day provided a unique opportunity for Elroy ' s educators to share their passion for teaching with their own children , offering them a glimpse into the daily routines and responsibilities of their parents . From guiding lessons to facilitating activities , the children had the chance to witness the dedication and hard work that goes into shaping young minds each and every day .
For many of the children , Take Your Child to Work Day was an eye-opening experience , as they gained a newfound appreciation for the importance of education
PNC PARK FIELD TRIP
Imagine being able to stand where the pros stand when they compete at PNC park . This was just one of the features our seventh-grade students enjoyed on their field trip which was organized by Mr . Tony Rogerio , Mrs . Stephanie Faust , Mr . Nick Caponi , Mrs . Maggie Davis and Mrs . Chantel Fry . Students were treated to a behind the scenes tour of the home of the Pittsburgh Pirates . The students visited both the home and visitors ’ dugouts , the indoor batting cage for the Pirates players as well as the corridors and hallways between these facilities and the playing field . In addition to these areas utilized by the players , they toured the outfield commons area , the Club Level as well as the Press Box . Throughout the tour , guides from PNC Park explained to the students the history of both the facility itself , as well as the Pirates organization . Students learned that the Pirates play on a natural surface of Kentucky Bluegrass which is maintained daily by a staff of dedicated groundskeepers . Throughout the tour , students had the opportunity to view memorabilia and artifacts from the Pirates as well as learn about the players who have had statues erected in their honor and memory . The players who have been honored with statues are Pirates greats Honus Wagner , Roberto
66 BRENTWOOD-BALDWIN-WHITEHALL and the role of teachers in their lives . They had the chance to engage in interactive learning activities , participate in classroom discussions , and even assist their parents in preparing materials for lessons .
The day was filled with laughter , learning , and unforgettable moments as parents and children bonded over shared experiences in the classroom . From creating music lessons to solving math problems , the children eagerly immersed themselves in the educational environment , gaining valuable insights and inspiration along the way .
Take Your Child to Work Day not only strengthened the bond between teachers and their children but also served as a powerful reminder of the profound impact that educators have on shaping the future generation . By opening their doors and hearts to their children , Elroy ' s teachers exemplified the values of dedication , passion , and lifelong learning that are at the core of the teaching profession .
As the day came to a close , both parents and children left with a renewed sense of appreciation for the work that teachers do and a shared commitment to fostering a love for learning in the hearts of students . Take Your Child to Work Day at Elroy Elementary was more than just a day of fun and exploration — it was a celebration of family , education , and the power of inspiration .

Upon completion of the tour at PNC Park , students traveled to the Carnegie Science Center where they had the opportunity to self-explore all three levels of interactive displays as well as the Highmark SportsWorks facility . Among the displays that the students were able to experience were the Miniature Railroad & Village , SpacePlace , BodyWorks , Mars : The Next Giant Leap and the BodyStage exhibit . Throughout all these exhibits , our Brentwood students were able to learn in a hands-on , interactive environment . We thank the Pittsburgh Pirates as well as the Carnegie Museums of Pittsburgh for their hospitality !
