“ All Property ... seems to me to have been created by the hand of the society , and consequently the preservation of it should be one of the principle objects of their united reason and council ." — Benjamin Franklin cKeesport rentwood

CITY BRIEFLY OF MCKEESPORT BRENTWOOD NEWS

In the last edition of IN Community Magazine , I provided a summary of the Borough ’ s approved $ 19.1 million 2024 Operating Budget . Of this amount , $ 10.7 million is associated with the Borough ’ s General Fund . The General Fund is the central governmental fund of the Borough , encompassing all financial resources except those earmarked for specific purposes . Revenue streams supporting the General Fund include property taxes , sales taxes , earned income taxes , franchise fees , and service fees . This fund underpins six primary functions vital to the Borough ' s operation : General Government , Library , Planning & Zoning , Public Safety , Parks & Recreation , and Public Works .

Based on a home with a $ 100,000 assessment , this would make your annual tax bill $ 1,000 for Brentwood Borough . ( NOTE : This is for the Borough only and does not include the Brentwood School District or Allegheny County taxes .) To give you a better understanding of what your $ 1,000 / year gets you in Brentwood I thought I ’ d provide you with the following that I pulled from the Borough ’ s interactive budget summary you can access from the Borough ’ s website www . brentwoodpa . gov .
Based on this example , the resident is paying approximately $ 18 / MONTH for Public Works Services ( snow plowing , roadway improvements , street sweeping , park maintenance , etc .). AND $ 28 / MONTH for Public Safety !! ( Police , Fire , EMS !)
