TAX news
IMPORTANT DATES AND INFORMATION
By this time you should have already
received and paid your Borough Real
Estate taxes (yellow bill) as they were
mailed out in March. If you have yet to
pay your borough taxes you should do
so by June 30th in order to pay without
penalty.
You should be receiving your School
District Real Estate tax bills (blue bill)
the first week of July. If you do not
get a bill by July 15, please call me at
412.882.5383 x1129 and leave your
name, your email address, the address
of the property and the address where
you would like the bill to be mailed. I will
email all bills unless otherwise instructed
to mail them.
states that “such settlement of duplicates
must occur by January 15 for taxes.”
Therefore, I will be closing out and
sending the delinquent taxes to Jordan
Tax Service in January for both the
borough and the school district. If you
have any questions, you may email me at
[email protected] or call
at 412.882.5383 x1129.
As you may or may not be aware
my duties are to bill and collect the
current real estate taxes only. I do not
set the amount of those taxes as this is
a calculation of the assessed valuation
(as set by Allegheny County) and
the millage, which is determined by
the borough council and the school
board respectively. I also am not able
to permanently change your billing
address as that must be done through
the Allegheny County Treasurers office
or online at www.alleghenycounty.us.
Lastly, The Pennsylvania Department
of Military and Veterans Affairs has a
program for Disabled Veterans which is a
Real Estate Tax Exemption Program. The
exemption is for honorably discharged
veterans who are 100% disabled, a
resident of the Commonwealth and have
a financial need. Visit the PA Department
of Veteran Affairs website for more
information or call the Allegheny
County Veterans Affairs office at
(412) 621-4357.
In order for you to obtain a receipt
through the mail, taxpayers need to send
the original bill in with a self-addressed
stamped envelope, and I will mail your
receipt back to you.
My address is 3730 Brownsville Road,
Pittsburgh, PA 15227 for the mailing
of all real estate taxes. My office hours
remain the same at the Brownsville Road
location, through the end of face or
Oct. 31, 2019: Tuesdays from 9 a.m. to
12 p.m. and Thursdays from 12 p.m.
to 3 p.m. I will have office hours by
appointment only after that time period.
Since I know that this is not convenient
for all, I also have a secure mail slot for
residents who would like to drop off their
taxes after hours. The secure mail slot is
to the left of the front door. Please do not
use the drop box in the drive through as
it is broken.
As in previous years I must adhere
to the Pennsylvania State Law. This law
