BRENTWOOD PLAYGROUND CLOSED DURING THE WEEK   Everyone is very excited about the long awaited renovations to the Brentwood Swimming Pool.  However, such major construction there is usually some inconveniences we all need endure.  Since the renovations to the pool are so close to the Brentwood Pavilion and the Brentwood Playground to ensure the safety of everyone, especially the little ones, the Brentwood Playground will be closed Monday to Friday.  We are aware that there may be days with little construction activity but to ensure the consistency and to adhere to the safety program establish the Playground will be closed Monday through Friday until the pool is open which is anticipated to be Memorial Day 2020.  We apologize for any inconvenience but safety is our major concern.   Baldwin Borough extends Baldwin Resident Pool Pass Rates to Brentwood Residents Looking for a place to cool off this summer, please contact Baldwin Borough who have generously offered to sell their annual pool passes to Brentwood residents at the Baldwin Resident rate.  Please contact Baldwin Borough for more information. http://www.baldwinborough.org/162/Pool BETTER RECYCLING BENEFITS OUR COMMUNITY Sudden and dramatic shifts in the recycling industry require a change in recycling habits. By recycling responsibly, residents can help to ensure that more of these materials are reclaimed, even as they place a smaller number of items in their designated recycling bin. While it may seem counterintuitive to shift your pizza boxes, yogurt containers, and egg cartons to the trash can, these goods cannot be processed at your typical recycling plant, and they historically have been separated from salvageable material and earmarked for the landfill. In the near future, the mixture of non-recyclable or soiled goods with recyclable materials will cause the entire batch to be deemed contaminated. The maintenance of a sustainable recyclable program protects the air, water, and soil in our community. To keep this initiative viable, please adhere to the following stipulations: n Include only paper, metal cans, and #1/#2 plastics in your recycling bin. Make sure that your waste is cleaned and that you have removed all caps that are made from non-recyclable plastics. n Use free alternative disposal options where available. Michael Brothers will accept glass bottles & jars at its Baldwin facility, while popular retailers like Target, Kohl’s, and Giant Eagle will take plastic bags at designated stores. n Bring your grass clippings, leaves, and small branches to the Public Works Building during business hours so that these materials can be repurposed as mulch.
