Reference PA Borough News – April 2018
Applications for the Property Tax/Rent Rebate Program are now available. The filing deadline is June 30.
Applicants must apply yearly. The rebate amount is based on the annual income and paid property taxes for each calendar year.
Individuals eligible for the program include Pennsylvanians age 65 and older; widows and widowers age 50 and older; and people with
permanent disabilities over the age of 18. The maximum standard rebate is $650, but supplemental rebates for qualifying homeowners
can boost rebates to $975. Applicants can exclude half of their income earned from Social Security, Supplemental Security income, and
Railroad Retirement Tier 1 benefits when applying for a rebate.
The Property Tax/Rent Rebate Program is one of five programs supported by the PA Lottery. Property Tax/Rent Rebates application
forms and assistance are available at no cost from the Department of Revenue district offices, local Area Agencies on Aging, senior
centers, and state legislators’ offices. Applicants can also download an application at www.revenue.pa.gov.
