A MESSAGE FROM Dr. Randal A. Lutz

Superintendent of Schools, Baldwin-Whitehall School District
Caring Is Making a Comeback
Dear Friends and Families of Baldwin-Whitehall, One of the strongest building blocks for any community is a very simple word: Caring. Throughout our District, we care deeply about the well-being of our students, faculty, and staff. We also care greatly about our regional community as a whole, and are grateful to contribute to it in many different ways.
As neighbors, we naturally care about what happens to one another. We want the folks we see every day to be happy, safe, healthy, and supported. Because we care, we look for ways to help each other while celebrating what we have in common and honoring what makes us unique.
For example, on Friday, May 29th, BWSD will be thrilled to celebrate the return of our first Day of Caring since it was paused during the pandemic. This volunteer tradition was created so our students and staff can give back to the senior citizens in our community by lending a hand with home repairs or yard work. In addition to the obvious help this outreach provides, it also offers a chance to meaningfully connect for members of our community who might not otherwise have the opportunity to meet.
In addition, this year’ s annual We Are Neighbors community celebration will be our biggest one yet. I hope you can join us on Friday, May 1st, from 5:30-8:00 PM to celebrate the wide variety of food, culture, stories, and traditions that make our diverse BWSD community so special. This heartwarming event strengthens our neighborhood connections in a way that Mister Rogers himself would be very proud to see.
When we greet others with a smile, offer help where we can, support local businesses, and warmly welcome new neighbors and visitors alike, we show one another how much we care— and that’ s how we build a strong community, one act of kindness and caring at a time.

BALDWIN-WHITEHALL SCHOOL DISTRICT NEWS

A LETTER FROM Karen Brown

President, BWSD Board of School Directors
A Message from the Board President
Dear Baldwin-Whitehall School District Community,
As the season of renewal and growth approaches, I am thrilled to welcome spring and all the opportunities it brings to our students, families, and staff. Spring is a time to reflect on the goals we have achieved together and to embrace the spirit of service, collaboration, and care that defines our community. At Baldwin- Whitehall, we are excited to celebrate these values through meaningful initiatives, including the renewal of our Day of Caring.
The Day of Caring is more than an event; it is a powerful reminder of the strength of collective action. We are so pleased to bring it back to the BW Community. On this day, our students and staff join forces to make a tangible difference in our community. From volunteering with local organizations to beautifying our school grounds, to helping in your homes and yards, this initiative demonstrates the importance of giving back and instills in our students the lifelong value of service. It is inspiring to see the smiles, teamwork, and pride that shine as we work toward a shared vision of care and compassion.
This year, the arrival of spring aligns beautifully with the Day of Caring, offering us an ideal opportunity to come together and reflect the hope and optimism that this season represents. I encourage each of you— whether as a volunteer, supporter, or participant— to join us in making this year’ s event a success. Together, we can continue to create a positive and lasting impact, not just within our schools, but throughout our broader community.
Thank you for your unwavering commitment to the success and well-being of our students and for embodying the spirit of collaboration that makes the Baldwin-Whitehall School District so special. I am proud to serve a community that values care, connection, and service. Let us carry the energy and enthusiasm of the Day of Caring forward into the rest of the school year and beyond.
With gratitude, Karen Brown President, BWSD Board of School Directors
