GARDEN CLUB
If it ’ s spring , it must be time for gardening ! Whitehall Green Thumbers Garden Club , in its 49th year , is a nonprofit educational organization that provides monthly educational programs to stimulate interest in horticulture and the dissemination of garden knowledge .
In addition to community planting , the Green Thumbers support Phipps Conservatory , Pittsburgh Botanic Garden and other local environmental and horticultural endeavors . Members enjoy fall and spring luncheons and bus tours .
Meetings are the first Thursday of the month ( March – June , Sept .– Dec .) at 7 p . m . at the Whitehall Boro Building Community Room . Guests are always welcome . For more information , email lerdman @ juno . com .
and South Park . It operates out of the Triumph of the Holy Cross Pleasant Hills Parish with many individuals , churches and synagogues participating . Cloverleaf was formed after the mass exodus of the steel industry in the 1980s , which left many in the Mon Valley with an uncertain future .
The pantry distributes food every two weeks throughout the year , providing more than 120,000 lbs . of food annually , which includes canned goods , baked goods , fresh produce , fish , meat , milk and eggs . It also distributes diapers and pet food for families on a regular basis .
The organization is staffed by a very dedicated group of volunteers who give unselfishly of their time , amounting to 5,000 volunteer hours yearly .
Cloverleaf welcomes food donations , volunteers and financial assistance from the local community , which will allow the wonderful organization to continue its important work . For more information , visit cloverleafpantry . org .

The Whitehall Historical Society is taking orders for industrial art projects like wind chimes , bird houses , and coat hooks . The projects can be made with

The Whitehall Historical Society will be presenting its next program on April 25 at the Whitehall Borough Community Room at 7 p . m . The featured speaker will be Todd DePastino , author , history professor , and executive director of the Veterans Breakfast Club . He will be speaking about World War II and the sabotage surrounding the war .
