A MESSAGE FROM Dr. Randal A. Lutz Superintendent of Schools, Baldwin-Whitehall School District Looking on the Bright Side Dear Baldwin-Whitehall School District Community, Can you feel that change? Spring is in the air! I hope you found a way to enjoy the winter months, but now it’s time to stop hibernating and start making the most of our longer days. Whether you enjoy sports, jogging, landscaping, home repair, or just reading and relaxing outdoors, now is the time to soak up the sun and recharge your inner batteries for the new year. In this issue, you’ll see several examples of the positive changes that have been happening in and around our District. These include the launch of helpful new services like our Mindfulness Center, as well as the continued excellence of our distinguished alumni like Jen Flynn Oldenburg, who was recently named the new head coach of women’s volleyball at Ohio State University. You’ll also meet our new School Board President, and you’ll learn why completing your 2020 Census form is one of the most important things you can do to help our District. When spring reaches full bloom, we’ll be looking at the last few weeks of our school year, which are filled with upcoming concerts, musicals, games, and events. If you haven’t stopped by an event lately, come out and join us in cheering for your Fighting Highlanders. And as always, if you have any ideas or suggestions that could help our students succeed, I’d love to hear from you. Thank you for supporting the children of our community, and best wishes for a happy and healthy spring! Sincerely, Dr. Randal A. Lutz Superintendent of Schools Baldwin-Whitehall School District A LETTER FROM Dr. Anthony DiCesaro School Board President Winds of Change Dear Baldwin-Whitehall Community Members, After five years of serving as a member of your Baldwin- Whitehall School Board, it is now my great honor to serve as the board’s new president. I am excited to work with all of our board members, our Superintendent, our faculty and staff, and all of the parents, families, and residents who call our District home. I believe that one of the most important lessons we can teach students of any age is to always be on the lookout for new opportunities. That’s one reason why I originally helped kickstart the idea for our District’s Mobile Fabrication Lab, as a way to introduce students to new scientific skills and career paths that they may not have thought about before. Looking for new opportunities is also a lesson that I try to follow in my own life. As a chiropractor, I need to be aware of new developments in medicine and new procedures that could help 66 BRENTWOOD-BALDWIN-WHITEHALL my patients. As a father, I strive to help my son do the best he can while the world keeps changing around him. And as your school board president, I work to maximize our District’s budget on behalf of our students’ futures. But seizing new opportunities requires learning new information, and that’s why our school board needs you, too. If you have any questions, suggestions, or insights that you’d like to share with the Baldwin-Whitehall School Board, please join us at one of our public meetings and let us know what’s on your mind. By working together and sharing our collective expertise, I know that we can provide a valuable educational experience that helps the students in our community prepare themselves for rewarding careers. Moving forward, Dr. Anthony DiCesaro President, Baldwin-Whitehall School Board
