THE WILMOTS CELEBRATE 75th
WEDDING ANNIVERSARY
Nothing makes the children of Stan and Dorothy Wilmot
happier than knowing their parents are celebrating their 75th
wedding anniversary together. “My dad just turned 95 in
January and mom will be 96 in April. They’re doing great,” says
daughter Patricia Grden.
The Wilmots met while attending high school near Imperial,
Pa. Stan enlisted in the Air Force before he was 18 due to
WWII. He was stationed at Mitchel Air Force Base in Long
Island, NY. On a three-day leave, he came home to ask Dorothy
to marry him, which she did at Hebron Presbyterian Church on
March 18, 1944.
After the war, Stan worked several trucking jobs before
starting Wilmot Dispatch. He retired at 93. Dorothy raised
their four children, all of whom are married and living in
Pennsylvania. Their eldest child died at 15 months. The
Wilmots enjoyed being together. They worked parties and
fundraisers for a talent network and dealt cards.

So, what’s the secret to their success? “Dad just loves her
dearly,” says Patricia. “A lot of patience and forgiveness, and
a shared love of being faithful Americans, keeps them happy.
They also watch a lot of news to stay current and have never
missed voting in an election.”
The Wilmots will celebrate their anniversary surrounded by
family at Bravo Cucina Italiana in Mt. Lebanon.
