S
t. Gabriel School in Whitehall boasts a
unique status as one of only two schools,
nationally, providing a tuition-free Catholic
education to students. A deep tradition of tithing
by parishioners and a heavy focus on fundraising
and volunteerism have allowed St. Gabriel to
enjoy this gift for the last 69 years.
While affording students the benefit of a
tuition-free Catholic education, St. Gabriel also
provides a competitive S.T.R.E.A.M. curriculum
that has its graduates succeeding in all facets
of life. More than 90% of St. Gabriel alumni
currently attending high school place on
their respective school’s honor, high honor, or
highest honor rolls. This is largely due to the
esteemed faculty, including several Golden
Apple Award winners.
Over the past year, the school underwent a
complete technological overhaul, furnishing
classrooms with SMARTboards, updating
the existing computer lab with new, state-
of-the-art, touch-screen equipment, and
implementing the use of iPads and Kindles in
all classrooms.
One area St. Gabriel sets itself apart, is
in its renowned middle school curriculum.
With a strong emphasis on Science, Math
and Technology and a fast-paced academic
environment, middle school students advance
to become top performers in the classroom and
leaders in high school. They enjoy the added
benefit exceptional and unique educational
field trips to supplement their middle school
curriculum.
St. Gabriel’s outstanding forensics program is
open to students beginning in 5th grade. They
compete locally against other Catholic schools
and the highest ranked public schools in the
area, where the Gators consistently win both
individual and team top honors.

Under the direction of a highly esteemed
instructors, the Musical Theater program at
St. Gabriel is one of only a few in the area.
Beginning in 3rd grade, students receive
formal instruction in acting, music and
dance throughout the year culminating in
an impressive production each spring. This
year’s production of “Seussical Jr.” will be
held on June 11th and 12th at Baldwin High
School.
Beyond these exceedingly successful
programs, St. Gabriel offers more than 25
clubs, extracurricular activities and teams
with a tradition of athletic excellence
including repeat Diocesan Championships in
Cross Country, Basketball, Volleyball, Soccer
and Cheerleading.
In addition to the rigorous K-8 curriculum,
St. Gabriel includes a first-class preschool
program offering 2-, 3- and 5-day classes for
3- to 5-year-old children.
On May 3, 2017, St. Gabriel School held
its First Annual Day of Giving: “ALL IN 4
GABES.” After an unprecedented response,
over $60,000 was raised in 24 hours, more
than doubling the initial goal. The Day of
Giving will return this year on Wednesday,
May 2, and will be launched primarily via
social media channels. Proceeds from
the Day of Giving benefit St. Gabriel and
its commitment to provide a tuition-free
Catholic education to its students.
Producing outstanding leaders year after
year, St. Gabriel shines as one in an exclusive
group, and a hidden gem in the community
of Whitehall. The rich legacy is a testament
to the commitment of the parish families
who work tirelessly to keep the “Miracle on
Greenridge” alive.
