Brentwood Borough invests millions of dollars into a variety of construction projects every year . These capital improvement projects include updating our streets for improved mobility , improving our storm drains , updating our many amenities in our park and stadium , and many more . Capital improvement projects can also include investments to build or rehabilitate buildings such as our Civic Center and recreational facilities . These critical , long-term investments help support our economic vitality and promote livable neighborhoods .
These projects can be in any one of a variety of stages — planning , design , procurement , construction and closeout — and vary in length of time from several months to several years . Regardless of their size or scope , these types of projects provide a tangible example of how Brentwood does it Better !
The Borough has budgeted nearly $ 5.3 million dollar ’ s worth of capital projects in 2023 the following are a few updates on some of these projects .
• Former Borough Building Site If you have walked or driven by the site of the former Borough Building , you may have noticed that something was missing . The colossal , nearly 100-year-old concrete and granite structure is no longer there ! The area has been graded and seeded to make the area as appealing as possible until the site is developed . Refer to a separate article pertaining to the plans for this valuable piece of property in the central business district .
• Sidewalk Cost Sharing Project In the ninth year of this highly popular program , the Borough will be able to make close to $ 100,000 worth of repairs to the Borough sidewalks . Remember , this amount will be offset by the participating resident ’ s share of these costs . N & N Landscaping and Concrete , Inc . was awarded this year ’ s contract to replace the many hazardous concrete sidewalks and concrete curbs .
This project will entail the restoration of defective sections of sidewalk and the installation of new slabs in locations that contain gaps . Targeted streets are : 1 . Catskill Ave . from Brownsville Rd . to terminus 2 . W . Bellecrest Ave . from Brownsville Rd . to Kestner Ave . 3 . W . Francis Ave . from Brownsville Rd . to W . Garden Rd .

2024 and Beyond …. If you think that is a lot , Brentwood is already planning for next year ’ s projects ! In addition to the Sidewalk , ADA Ramps , and Road Paving Projects , Borough Officials are planning on some of the following :
• Field No . 4 ADA Access Improvements Project

After looking at some old photographs of the park , swimming pool , and stadium , it is hard to believe it is the same location . There are a lot more improvements not as “ glamorous ” or visible as the abovementioned project but very necessary . Hundreds of thousands of dollars of improvements to the Borough ’ s sanitary sewer system and stormwater system take place every year to make sure everything is flowing freely .
