Our Strategic Plan Is Building a Stronger Learning CommUnity
Dear Friends and Families of Baldwin-Whitehall , aldwin-Whitehall BALDWIN-WHITEHALL SCHOOL DISTRICT NEWS
Last year , I spoke frequently about our region ’ s extraordinary Learning CommUnity . From each of our teachers and our professional staff to our local businesses and taxpayers , we recognize that everyone who lives and works within our District is contributing to the education of our community ’ s children in their own meaningful way . And while the concept of a Learning CommUnity is inspiring , it requires a well-designed strategic plan to turn our ideas into realizations .
Fortunately , BWSD is working from a smart and effective strategic plan that was collaboratively developed by our administrators , faculty , school board , and feedback from parents and students . Our plan has four key components that help guide every decision we make : being learner-centered , future-focused , data-informed , and equity-driven . Together , all four pillars combine to help our District build a more supportive , proactive , effective , and inclusive Learning CommUnity .
In this issue you ’ ll see plenty of evidence that our strategic plan is working . For example , when it opens in January , the new R . A . Lutz Elementary school will feature our District ’ s most learner-centered building design yet . Our K – 5 Encore programming is evolving to become much more dynamic and future-focused . Our new K – 8 reading curriculum is based on data and insights that have supercharged learning for millions of students in school districts all across America and our Early College Program partnership with CCAC is helping our District become more equity-driven by making a college education more accessible and affordable for all . This year , we hired 27 new teachers and a new assistant principal . Parents and fans of our student-athletes will also see some new faces on the field this fall . We welcome Coach Dana Brown , Jr ., to lead our Highlanders on the football field and Coach Jeff Beardsley to head our girls ' soccer team . But the clearest sign that our District is building toward a brighter future may be the joy and excitement that our young students felt while touring the new R . A . Lutz Elementary to see its progress . These students are so excited about the possibilities of Other learning and exploring in a new space , and their enthusiasm for unlocking so much new knowledge and experience is

As we prepare for the start of a new school year , I am incredibly grateful for your continued support of our vibrant Learning CommUnity . I can ’ t wait to see how we all learn and grow together in 2023-24 .
