A MESSAGE FROM

Superintendent of Schools , Baldwin-Whitehall School District

Our District CommUNITY Works + Learns Together

I often say that our District ’ s greatest success happens when we all work together . With that in mind , I am excited to announce the theme for our new 2022-2023 school year is “ Baldwin – Whitehall : A Learning CommUNITY .”
These past few years have been challenging in many ways , but our remarkable commUNITY has always found ways to come together , collaborate on important initiatives , and support one another as we all work toward our common goals .
This concept of commUNITY will be taken to a whole new level this year as we celebrate the many ways our students , teachers , administrators , staff , families , and neighbors all work together to make learning more exciting , engaging , and memorable — and if you ’ re reading this , that means our commUNITY includes you , too ! In this issue , you ’ ll see some great examples of how different groups within our District are working together to create amazing educational opportunities and experiences . This includes funding new student scholarships and teacher grants through our Baldwin-Whitehall Educational Foundation , exploring Costa Rica as part of a memorable BHS Spanish summer program , and making fantastic progress on the new R . A . Lutz Elementary School that will open its doors next year .
Our faculty and staff are incredibly grateful for all the ongoing support that the citizens of Baldwin – Whitehall School District continue to provide for our students , year after year . I look forward to fostering an enthusiastic spirit of commUNITY in learning all year long , and finding new ways to bring us all together so we can share our knowledge , experience , and excitement for the very bright future of our District .

Sincerely , Dr . Randal A . Lutz Superintendent of the Baldwin-Whitehall School District aldwin-Whitehall BALDWIN-WHITEHALL SCHOOL DISTRICT NEWS

Dear Baldwin – Whitehall School District Families ,
A LETTER FROM

Mr . Peter D . Giglione

President , Board of School Directors
On behalf of the Baldwin-Whitehall School District Board of School Directors , welcome back to each one of our 4,507 students , 283 teachers , and 365 staff members ! A special welcome to the newest “ Little Highlanders ” — our 324 kindergartners .
Our District begins the year in solid shape . We hired many new highly-regarded teachers , staff , and coaches over the past few months . Working with administration , the Board continues to search for ways to make our buildings as safe and secure as possible .
Our finances are also sound ; in June the Board passed a nearly $ 80 million budget ($ 5.9 million higher than 2021-2022 ), without increasing taxes . In fact , our millage rate of 22.63 remains among the lowest in the region .
Locker room renovations at Baldwin High School stadium were completed in the spring . This year , we intend to overhaul the soccer

An outdoor capital improvement project at Whitehall Elementary School is also planned for this year .
As we enter the new school year , please remember that we are one “ commUNITY ” — we will continue to prosper as long as we work together for the betterment of our District and our children .
