BALDWIN LIBRARY PARTNERING WITH
‘THE MISSION CONTINUES’ TO TRANSFORM
LIBRARY’S OUTDOOR SPACE AS PART OF A
DAY OF SERVICE IN MEMORY OF 9/11 EVENTS
The Baldwin Borough Public Library
announced a partnership with The Mission
Continues for a day of transforming the
library’s outdoor space: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on
Saturday, Sept. 7. The Baldwin Library is
located at 5230 Wolfe Drive, 15236.
The Mission Continues South Hills 3rd Platoon will be at the library for a
meaningful day of service in memory of the tragic events on 9/11/01. Projects
throughout the day will include building planter benches, building ADA picnic
tables, installing and painting a fence, and building/filling garden beds.
The Baldwin Library and The Mission Continues invite members of
the community to decorate the fence beginning at 10 a.m. Registration is
encouraged through The Mission Continues’ website: missioncontinues.org/
service-platoon/Pittsburgh-3rd-platoon.
The two groups met through The Jefferson Regional Foundation
Collaborative and a partnership was formed. Earlier this year, volunteers through
The Mission Continues South Hills also helped the library move to its new
location.
September is Love Your Library Month, and joining Baldwin Library and The
Mission Continues in the outdoor project is a great way to show support for the
library!
The Mission Continues South Hills (Pittsburgh 3rd Platoon) is focused on
mobilizing veterans to support the immigrant and refugee community in the
South Hills. It connects veterans with service opportunities while celebrating the
diversity that they experienced while serving their country.
The Baldwin Borough Public Library opened in its new location at 5230 Wolfe
Drive on April 1, and is a vital part of the community – providing computer
access, free programming for all ages, technology assistance, an interactive
children’s play area, a separate teen space and more.
