The existing pool bathhouse has been demolished by AW McNabb Inc. in preparation for the pool renovation project. 4. The municipal building project has finally entered the active construction stage, and it is expected the structure will be ready for occupancy in July 2020. The Borough continues to invest in and prepare for its future. We also remain committed do taking on as much in-house engineering and project management work as possible in order to save costs and stretch our limited dollars to maximize our output. Thank you for your cooperation as we continue to improve our community. “If good things come to those who wait…The Brentwood Pool Renovations are going to be AMAZING!!” If you have been in Brentwood Park recently you have noticed a few changes or should I say, missing items, from the pool area. Phase I of the Brentwood Pool Renovation Project has been underway since early June with the demolition of the old bathhouse and the Civic Center Deck. The final result is going to be a nice scenic view of the Brentwood’s Herb Troy Field as well as additional green space/layout area for the pool. Phase II of this long-anticipated project is scheduled to begin in September 2019. The primary renovation Contract is scheduled to be awarded by Brentwood Borough Council during their August 19, 2019 Council meeting after they accept the Grant Agreement from the Federal Land and 42 BRENTWOOD-BALDWIN-WHITEHALL Water Conservation Fund in the amount of $797,600 . Brentwood Officials had anticipated this “paper work” to have been completed earlier in the year but for reasons outside of the Borough’s control they had to wait until this grant was processed. If you are familiar with Federal Grants, the Borough could not award any contracts related to the grant funding prior to first accepting the Grant Award and Grant Agreement. This is a large amount of money and it is safe to say that without this funding, as well as the funding provided by the Allegheny County Community Infrastructure and Tourism Fund (CITF) two grants totaling $275,000, these much needed renovations, estimated at nearly $3 million, would not have been able to occur. We refer to this as a “renovation project” but as you can see from the rendering, this is more like a new construction project consisting of a new state of the art changing rooms with restrooms and showers, a new large super slide, and zero depth entry to name a few. Borough Officials are hoping for a mild winter and dry spring to provide good conditions for the contractors to complete this project in time for at least part of the 2020 Pool Season. I am sure we are all hoping for the same. BRENTWOOD-BALDWIN-WHITEHALL ❘ FALL 2019 43
