5 Things to Know about Heatherlyn Wessel, the New Principal of McAnnulty Elementary School
1. Teaching is in her blood.“ I was born to be a teacher.
I have three siblings and they
GET TO KN are all teachers W around the
BWSD Alumni Pittsburgh area.” 2. She loves helping others.
“ From a young age I have always gravitated towards helping others, especially young children. Teachers do more than teach, their impact extends far beyond the classroom. As a teacher, you are more than an educator: you are a mentor, a confidant and life-long supporter of that student.” 3. Working at McAnnulty is coming home.“ The Baldwin-Whitehall School District has taught me what it means to be an educator. Fresh out of Penn State I began substitute teaching at Baldwin and was hired as a Kindergarten teacher at McAnnulty Elementary. While teaching Kindergarten I pursued my Masters in Education from California University. I accepted an Assistant Principal position at Paynter Elementary where I had the great pleasure of working and learning under Mrs. Fusco. It has always been a dream of mine to return to McAnnulty and I am so fortunate that that dream came true!” 4. She understands learning looks different for everyone.“ In my own post-high-school education, my experiences helped me realize that everyone learns in a variety of ways and it is my job to facilitate that learning. The most enjoyable aspect of my job is being able to play a role in both my students’ and teachers’ educational experiences.” 5. She believes so much in the District, she moved here.“ After being hired in Baldwin-Whitehall, I was so passionate about what the District was doing for students I chose to move my family into the District so that my children would benefit from the wonderful opportunities that the District provides.” aldwin-Whitehall BALDWIN-WHITEHALL SCHOOL DISTRICT NEWS
