BRENTWOOD BOROUGH INTERNS 2018
BRITTNEY COOK
My name is Brittney Cook and I am the summer intern for the Borough of
Brentwood. I am working with the Code Department. I help out the Code
Department with various filing. Also downloaded all the CD’s given for Home
Sales of Sewage/Laterals onto the computer. I also work with Karen on the sewage
bills and final bills that have to be sent out to specific Title Companies for their
final billing. Calling residents to pick up their small Military Banners to have for
their yards. Helping with the mail and taking it to the mailbox outside so it can be
sent out on time. This has been a great learning experience for me going into my
senior year at Brentwood High School.
Brentwood Borough’s Public Works Department had
four summer Interns this year. The students picked up
litter, swept the walkways and playgroup areas, cut grass
and painted dugouts for our baseball fields.

DAVID MRAZIK
My name is David
Mrazik, and I am a
sophomore at Penn
State University
studying civil
engineering. This
summer, I had the
special opportunity
to learn about the
inner workings and
day-to-day activities
within the Public
Works Department
of Brentwood Borough through an engineering
internship. Under the direction of the department
head, Vitale Alexandrov, I learned new skills, met
new people, and gained a greater appreciation of
the technical challenges that engineers face and
how important the Public Works Department is
to the community. During my time at Brentwood
Borough, I have worked on multiple projects
including the Culvert Project, the Sidewalk
Replacement Program, the Road Paving Project,
and the Sanitary Sewer Program. Through these
various projects and programs, I learned important
aspects of engineering: the ability to adapt and
have patience when faced with challenges. Also,
I learned about engineering field inspections,
overseeing capital construction contractors, and
the development of bid specifications. For certain
parts of the projects, engineering firms such as
Gateway Engineers, Inc. help the borough when
large infrastructure projects are needed. Overall,
it has been a pleasure working with Brentwood
Borough, and I am excited to continue my studies
in civil engineering.
