IN Brentwood-Baldwin-Whitehall Fall 2017 | Page 82
A MESSAGE FROM
Dr. Randal A. Lutz
Superintendent of Schools, Baldwin-Whitehall School District
Welcome to A Year of New Adventure,
Inspiration and Achievement
The beginning of every new school year
is a special moment in time that offers a
fresh start for our students, our faculty,
and our administration. Every blank sheet
of paper, every freshly sharpened pencil,
and every unread book is a chance to learn
something new that just might change a
student’s life. When each day is filled with
countless opportunities to learn, improve,
and grow, it’s easy to see why our teachers
and students begin every school year with
so much excitement and optimism for the
many adventures that lie ahead.
Dear Baldwin-Whitehall School District
Families,
80 Brentwood-Baldwin-Whitehall
In this issue of In Brentwood, Baldwin-
Whitehall, we’ve inserted our 2016–17
Annual Report to the Community, a
snapshot in data, scores, achievements,
and milestones, and then we’ll look ahead
to the 2017–2018 school year.
On page 91, Director of Curriculum
Andrea Huffman explains how we’re
changing the way we schedule our
elementary art and music classes, and the
STEAM-based learning possibilities that
students can find in their libraries and
media centers.
On page 93, Director of Information
and Instructional Technology Dr. Janeen
Peretin offers details about our 1:1
Initiative rolling out this year to help
students advance their ability to be
competitive in the Digital Age.
On page 94, you’ll hear about fresh
news in District dining with Food Services
Director Joyce Weber. And on page 90
you’ll find our 2017–2018 District Calendar
with information on dozens of upcoming
academic, athletic,and arts events in
Baldwin-Whitehall.
As always, thank you for being loyal
supporters of our students, our staff, and
our efforts to help shape the future of
our region one lesson at a time. I hope
this autumn season provides you with
inspiration to achieve new heights—
whether you are currently enrolled or
simply a lifelong student of life itself.
