Sign Inventory
GIS Mapping
As required per state laws Brentwood
must have an inventory of all the sign’s
thr oughout the Borough. The Borough
uses a system called Esri which is a GIS
mapping software to collect this data
efficiently. The description of the
signs are recorded and thus gives the
Borough information on the proper
time to replace them. These descriptions
include: Sign Type, Style, Text, Facing Direction,
Install Date, Condition, Owned By, Managed By, and
Photo Evidence. If anyone has noticed a guy with an iPad
walking around this summer, that is our intern,
Nick Durkin, and he is recording exactly this.

REMINDER:
REFUSE
FEES NOW
INCLUDED
ON YOUR
MONTHLY
SEWAGE BILL
Effective July 2016, the Borough of
Brentwood now issues a combined sewage
& refuse bill to its residential customers. This
policy change was prompted by a decision by
incumbent trash vendor Republic Services to
cease the collection of balances that were in
excess of 90 days past due.
The Borough had previously operated
a confusing two-tiered system to collect
delinquent sewage fees, whereby a third
party vendor issued monthly statements
but a municipal employee generated
separate delinquency notices. Due to the
number of negative resident responses
that were received about the complexity
of this program, the Borough chose not to
institute a similar arrangement for refuse
billing. Brentwood has instead streamlined
the payment process by including trash &
recycling service on the monthly sewage
statement.
For the remainder of 2016, each residential
unit will be assessed a $15.41 monthly fee,
which is listed on the bill as a separate line
item. Past due trash balances will be included
in the “prior balance” section.
If you believe that a delinquent sewage
charge has been applied to your account
in error, please contact the Borough at 412884-1500 x115 or x118. Republic Services has
been working closely with our staff to address
issues with the delinquency data that was
previously submitted. Please note that the
July bill was generated prior to the receipt
of the 2016 quarter two delinquency
report from Republic Services. It is
anticipated that these past due amounts will
be added to the September bill.
