BP PUBLIC LIBRARY RAISES OVER $ 15,000 IN SEPTEMBER
Together , library lovers contributed $ 15,079.76 to the Bethel Park Public Library during September ’ s Love Your Library Month , a portion of which will be eligible for a prorated match thanks to the Jack Buncher Foundation . That translates into expert librarian help ; a robust collection of books , DVDs and research databases ; engaging programming for people of all ages ; and so much more !
During September , the library hosted its annual golf event with the three other organizations in the Bethel Park Fantastic Four Charities , along with a raffle for a 55-inch TV , an Xbox game console and a handmade quilt . The golf outing raised $ 4,752.51 for the library with the raffle raising $ 2,417 ! The rest of the funds raised were through generous donations from community members .
Bethel Park Library is grateful for the support of its essential services for the community .
MENDELSSOHN CHOIR OF PITTSBURGH ’ S SEASON TO BEGIN WITH FREE CONCERTS IN DECEMBER
The Mendelssohn Choir of Pittsburgh ( MCP ) recently announced its 2021 – 2022 season . At 114 years in operation and composed of approximately 120 singers , MCP is led by Robert Page , Music Director . The group returns to live programming with a slate of performances celebrating light and imagination .
Anchoring the season is The Promise of Light , running Dec . 10-18 . MCP is offering free admission to The Promise of Light , through the support of the Jack Buncher Foundation , in order to remove barriers to participation and engage with as many members of the community as possible .
The Promise of Light is a lighthearted meditation that draws from the vast wealth of music and poetry about winter , the solstice , the holidays , and most importantly , why we celebrate at the darkest time of the year .
The 70-minute concert features music by some of choral music ’ s most popular composers ( Randall Thompson , Ēriks Ešenvalds ), fresh new voices in choral music ( Melissa Dunphy and Georgia Stitt ), and well-known songs by the Fleet Foxes , Carole King , and Dolly Parton . The concert also includes seasonal poetry and reflections by the likes of Robert Frost , Ogden Nash , Mary Oliver , Amy Gerstler , Margaret Atwood , and Joseph Campbell . CLEARVIEW EMPLOYEE NAMED 2021 FRAUD INVESTIGATOR OF THE YEAR
Heidi Hudak receives her third award from the IAFCI Pittsburgh Metro Chapter .
Clearview Federal Credit Union announced that Heidi Hudak , senior fraud detection and protection analyst , has been named the 2021 Fraud Investigator of the Year by the International Association of Financial Crimes Investigators Pittsburgh Metro Chapter ( IAFCI ). She previously received this honor in 2011 and 2013 .
Hudak received this award for her assistance to the Allegheny County District Attorney ’ s Office in a complex fraud / public corruption case during the pandemic .
The information she provided in an expedited manner was above and beyond expectations during such a difficult time .
Investigators believe that Hudak ’ s dedication and tremendous work ethic were crucial in getting accurate and timely information necessary for filing charges in the case . She is known to bring this dedication and commitment to all the cases in which she is involved .
Hudak has been an active member of the IAFCI Pittsburgh Metro Chapter for the last 10 years . She has served on the board of directors for eight of those years , mainly in the role of treasurer .
“ If this last year has taught us anything , it is that we are all in this together . We need to assist one another for the greater good ,” Hudak said . “ It ’ s not so much that ‘ I ’ did this — this was a team effort between myself and the District Attorney ’ s office to make things right .”

Columbia Gas of Pennsylvania reminds residents to call 811 or visit PAOneCall . org at least three business days before any digging project to have underground utility lines marked . With more comfortable weather and people spending a lot of time at home , homeowners often turn to do-ityourself work in and around their yards .
In 2020 , 14 % of damages occurred due to a failure to call 811 before a digging project . Primary causes of damages were due to fence installations and landscaping projects . If you contact 811 before you dig , there ’ s a less than one percent chance of damaging a utility line . n
