Founded by Dr. Lonny Harrison, ownership of the practice recently passed to longtime associate Dr. Anthony Pinter and his wife, Dr. Mindy McKee. Drs. Pinter and McKee purchased Advanced Vision Care with a goal of ensuring that the practice continued living up to its name, and its reputation within the South Hills. In keeping with that strategic vision, the practice recently upgraded its diagnostic equipment, including one of the newest models of Optomap. The Optomap provides a high-resolution image of the retina (interior of the eye) with a 200° field of view, versus the 45° field offered by traditional cameras. This instrument allows for better diagnosis, monitoring and treatment of diseases such as diabetic retinopathy, glaucoma, macular degeneration and various retinal conditions. In addition to maximizing technological capabilities, actually listening to and fostering discussion with patients enables the Advanced Vision Care team to provide more effective care and add value to the patient experience. “We take the time to listen to our patients,” explained Dr. Pinter. “Many eye conditions—or medical problems for that matter—can be diagnosed through a good case history. Dr. Harrison always stressed that technology is important and useful, but people make the difference. We try to honor his legacy by providing the best possible eye care to every patient.” Same-day care is always provided for ocular urgencies and emergencies, with most medical insurance plans accepted. The six doctors at Advanced Vision Care treat patients in all stages of life, beginning in infancy. Most recent to join the optometric team is Dr. Robert Hartsock, bringing with him nearly 30 years of practice experience in the South Hills. Utilizing their vast experience, the doctors are able to offer a wide variety of contact lens fitting options, including hard-to-fit and specialty lenses. Additionally, there are three certified opticians on staff in the newly renovated Optical Department, which carries over 1,200 frames. The great selection of frames combined with a wide variety of lens options ensures something for everyone across all price points.
