Bethel Park Presents ‘ Big Fish ’
Hooking an uncatchable fish , thwarting a sniper ’ s attack , saving a town , joining a circus and proposing marriage to a woman he ’ s barely met . Those are just a few tall tales Edward Bloom shares with his son , Will , who doesn ’ t believe any of it in the musical production “ Big Fish .” Bethel Park High School welcomed audiences to hear these yarns and to believe , March 13-16 .
Mr . Todd Kuczawa , a chorus teacher at the school , and a talented team of directors , including Jay McDowell , Julia Davin , Paige Landay , Heather Fontana and Chris Plummer led the twocast production .
Kuczawa is quick to acknowledge that this year ’ s show was a big departure from the past few Bethel Park has staged , including “ The Addams Family ,” “ Cinderella ,” and “ The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee .”
According to Kuczawa , when selecting the musical each year , he takes into consideration a host of factors , including the skills and abilities of students who have participated in the musical in the past , the interests of the students , the tastes of the community , and most importantly , he looks for a musical that might speak to the audiences ’ hearts . “‘ Big Fish ’ wa an exciting and challenging new musical with big , colorful , energetic dance numbers , but at its core is a very poignant story about family and how to live life to the fullest ,” he said .
