Life after surgery is better than gold When Joseph developed sudden, severe abdominal pain, he turned to the experts at Jefferson Hospital. They diagnosed him with diverticulitis (a type of infection inside the intestines). Joseph and his doctor discussed treatment options – and they decided surgery offered the best results. The procedure was minimally invasive, leaving Joseph with a small incision and minimal pain. He was eating solid food the day after surgery and was able to go home in two days. Now, he’s back to the life he loves — acting like a kid with his three- and six-year-old children at the park. “The surgery was ‘worth its weight in gold.’ The pain before was awful, and now the pain is nil. It’s fantastic.” – Joseph Burns, Belle Vernon, PA
