Day Camp 2020 8 Weekly Sessions June 15 – August7 Ages: 6yrs to 10yrs The Recreation Summer Day Camp Program, for children ages 6-10, will provide FUN experiences to spice up your child’s summer! Day Camp is divided into week-long sessions with activities developed around a different central theme each week. The FUN culminates each Friday with an exciting local field trip! The all-day program is from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The morning only session is from 9 a.m to Noon. The afternoon session is from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m. For working parents we offer an optional early drop-off of 7 a.m. and an optional late pick-up time of no later than 6 p.m. You have the choice of attending morning only, afternoon only, or all day. We’re excited to be bringing back a number of returning counselors who will be providing many activities in the areas of arts, crafts, sports, combined camp activities, and weekly field trips CLASSES All programs held at Bethel Park Community Center. Call 412.851.2910 for more information Pre-registration is required for classes YOUTH ART EXPLOSION 4-7 yrs 5:15 – 6:15pm 6 – 12yrs 6:30 – 7:30pm Mon 6wk sessions 3/16- 4/27 $65 resident/$70 non Students use variety of materials such as markers, paints, colored pencils and model magic as they complete a new spring inspired piece each week. FIT KIDS 5-8 yrs Mon 6wk session 3/2– 4/6 6:00 – 6:45pm $25 resident/$30 non Kids enjoy getting exercise as they play active games, running races, bouncing, skipping, hopping and jumping. Play and laugh on the way to being a fit kid! LACROSSE for Beginners 5-9yrs Tu 6 wk session 3/3 – 4/14 6:30 – 7:30pm $70 resident / $75 non Boys & Girls will be introduced to basic skills and rules of this exciting sport by former players. Soft instructional balls will be used. All equipment including goggles /sticks will be provided for class. Class held at Ben Franklin Elementry gym. Each camp week wraps up with a FUN Friday field trip! Build and take home your own 7 in 1 Rechargeable Solar Transformer. All supplies included. SAFE SITTER 11 – 13 yrs Sat 4/18 9:30am – 3:00pm $46 resident / $51 non This nationally recognized program teaches boys and girls to provide safe child care. Program taught by St. Clair Hospital staff covers child care basics, injury prevention/ management, and behavior management skills. Students are encouraged to bring a bag lunch. YOUTH THEATER 6-12 yrs Wed 6wk sessions 3/4– 4/8; 4/22 – 5/27, 6:00 – 7:00pm $40 residents/$45 non Students/actors will enjoy playing creative drama games to improve character development and improve skills, voice projection and enunciation skills. A performance will be held on last class for family & friends. ADULT HIIT It! Mon 6 wk sessions 3/2– 4/6; 4/20 – 6/1 7:00 – 8:00 pm $35 residents/$40 non HIIT classes involve shorts bursts of high intensity cardio & strength exercises alternated with brief recovery periods. Quick results in a short time with multiple benefits. Movements are not repetitive or boring! PYSANKY EGG MAKING Sat 3/14, 9:30am – 12:00pm $30 residents / $35 non $10 supply fee payable to instructor at class A hands on class where students complete one colorful Ukrainian Easter egg by class end. Instructor Sasha learned the tradition from her Grandmother and will pass along to all students. Class appropriate for 13yrs and older. TAI-CHI - Beginner Tues 6:30 – 7:30pm Wed 10:55am – 11:55am 3/3– 4/8; 4/21 – 5/27 6 wk sessions $48 residents/$53 non Class is for beginning student as well as student wanting to work on first 1/3 of form. Suitable for anyone looking to improve overall health with better balance, coordination and posture. Slow, sustained movements that require NO PRIOR EXPERIENCE. WALK 15 Wed 6 wk sessions 3/4 – 4/8; 4/15 – 5/20, 6:00 – 7:00pm $35 residents/$40 non This indoor, instructor led group walking program has just 4 basic movements including walking in place, side steps, kicks and knee lifts with variations.
