SEVEN INDUCTED INTO ATHLETIC HALL OF FAME ethel Park
BETHEL PARK SCHOOL DISTRICT
The Bethel Park Athletic Hall of Fame welcomed seven new members to the Class of 2017 on Friday, December 22 during the halftime of the Bethel Park
High School Boys Varsity Basketball Game. The 2017 Inductees include: Craig Gob( Class of 1987— Football and Wrestling) – Craig was a three year offensive and defensive starter, who guided the Football Team to three straight playoff appearances and a combined record of 20-12. He was named to the 1986 All- Conference Team and the Post-Gazette All-South Fabulous 22 Squad. He earned a scholarship to the University of Pittsburgh, where he lettered all four years and served as Team Captain in 1990. He played in the Bluebonnet and John Hancock Bowls. Additionally, Craig was a two-year letterman in Wrestling at Bethel Park.
Scott Gob( Class of 1985— Football) – Scott was a three year letterman at Bethel Park and was twice named All-Conference and to the WPIAL’ s and Post-Gazette’ s All-South Fabulous 22 squad. He was named All-State in 1984 and played in the 1985 Big 33 Game, where he recorded two interceptions, one fumble recovery and was the game’ s leading tackler at Linebacker. Street and Smith magazine ranked him the # 7 high school linebacker in the nation. He played football at Penn State, where he was a member of the 1986 National Championship Team. He also played in the Citrus and Holiday Bowls.
John Hepler( Class of 1963— Swimming) – John was a four year letterman who set school records in five events and guided the Black Hawks to the 1963 WPIAL Championship, the 1962 WPIAL Runner-Up and a Third Place finish at the 1963 State Championships. At the WPIAL Championships, he earned two Gold and one Silver Medals, and at States, he earned two Silver Medals. He swam collegiately for two years at Grove City College.
Maureen Hester( Class of 2006— Basketball / Track) – Maureen was a four year varsity starter for the Lady Hawks, scoring 1,149 career points as she led the team to an overall record of 69- 16, including two Section Championships and the WPIAL Runner-Up Title in 2005. She was named the WPIAL’ s 2003 Freshman of the Year and was named All-WPIAL in 2006. She was a two year letter winner in track, participating in long jump, high jump and triple jump events. She played on three Atlantic 10 Tournament Champion Teams and two Atlantic 10

Regular Season Championship Teams at Xavier University, as well as advancing to the NCAA Elite Eight in 2010. She was a three time member of the Atlantic 10 and All-American Academic Teams and was named Xavier’ s Most Improved Player in 2008. Professionally she served as Xavier’ s Director of Basketball Operations and as an Assistant Coach at Robert Morris University, where the team won the 2014 NEC Tournament Championship and earned an appearance in the NCAA Tournament.
John Taylor Meister( Baseball Coach) – Coach Meister coached the BPHS Baseball Team from 1989-1993, and his teams won back-to-back Section Championships in 1989 and 1990, and finished as the 1990 WPIAL Runners-Up. He also served as an Assistant Varsity Coach from 1969-1988. He finished his Bethel Park coaching career with 382 wins, 13 Section Championships, 2 WPIAL Championships, 2 WPIAL Finalists, 3 State Finalists and the 1998 State Championship.
Geoff Oakley( Class of 1984— Hockey / Baseball / Soccer) – Geoff played defense on the BPHS Hockey Team and guided the Hawks to its first Penguin Cup Championship in 1983 and the 1983 State Finals. He played and scored in the 1982 Keystone State Hockey All-Star Game and was a SHIHL All-Star in 1983. He lettered two years in baseball and was named All-Section in 1984 as he led the Hawks to the WPIAL Playoffs. He was also a two year soccer letter winner and helped guide the Hawks to the 1983 WPIAL Playoffs. He played hockey for St. Bonaventure University and was named SBU’ s 1985 Rookie of the Year and 1988 MVP. His college teams won the ICHL Championship three times. He was the Assistant Varsity Coach for the 2000 Bethel Park Penguin Cup and PIHL State Championship Teams.
Jerome Williams( Class of 1987— Football) – Jerome was a star running back for the Black Hawks, earning three varsity letters while leading the Hawks to three consecutive playoff appearances. In 1985 he rushed for 1,120 yards and scored 11 touchdowns, including five consecutive games with 100 + yards rushing. In 1986 he rushed for 1,084 yards. He was twice named All-Conference and All-South Fabulous 22. He was also named to the 1986 All-WPIAL Fabulous 22. Jerome played collegiately at Morehead State, where he lettered all four years on his way to setting the school record with 167 career receptions.
