“ It can make it to the top of a scaffold branch in a few weeks ,” he said . Associate Professor Trouillas said when it comes to managing the disease with fungicides , new molecules and products recently have come on the market and can mitigate Phytophthora diseases . “ New products and active ingredients are generally tested first in the laboratory to determine baseline sensitivity and some of these new molecules seem to be highly effective at really low rates ,” he said . Many new fungicides are also systemic and can target ongoing infections . Associate Professor Trouillas said having a diverse range of products for disease control is best because it can help prevent the risk of disease resistance .
