Marketing update

Export update - growth in export volumes

AUSTRALIAN almond exports have grown by 7.2 % for this marketing year , from March to September 2022 . Our shipments have increased by 4,525 tonnes to 67,082 tonnes this year , compared to 62,557 tonnes for the same period last year .
While China remains the key export growth market , our industry understands the importance of raising the profile of our Australian Almonds brand and building customer relationships in our other established and emerging markets .

Sial Paris : October 15-20

THE Sial Paris trade exhibition is Europe ’ s largest Fine Food Fair for 2022 . Held at the Parc des Expositions in Villepinte , Sial Paris runs for five days . It is a biennial exhibition alternating with Anuga in Cologne . Sial Paris was established 60 years ago . This year ’ s trade fair covered more than 250,000 square metres of exhibition space , with more than 7,000 exhibitors and more than 300,000 industry professionals . The Australian almond industry had its own exhibition booth to showcase our full product offering and our five Australian almond exporters . As this was the first Sial Paris exhibition in four years due to the Covid disruption , the trade fair provided a valuable platform for our exporters to meet personally with their customers from across their key European markets . A networking event held at the INC stand provided additional opportunities for our exporters to meet with their customers .
AFTER three years of lockdowns , the trade event Asia Fruit Logistica was on show again . This exhibition was held from November 2-4 at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center ( QSNCC ) in Bangkok , Thailand . The Australian almond industry exhibited to more than 40,000 potential buyers and business contacts from 86 countries . With access to a large audience captive to the latest in global food and trends , it was a unique opportunity to meet with traders from Southeast Asia , India and the Middle East where there is growing interest in Australian almonds . Along with exhibiting and meeting with potential buyers , Almond Board of Australia Marketing Officer Lou Martin attended an agribusiness dinner at the Australian Embassy in Bangkok . Meeting with the Australian Ambassador , Dr Angela Macdonald , along with the support of Hort Innovation , Australian Trade and Investment Commission ( Austrade ) and other horticulture industries , it was great to all come together and raise the flag for Australian horticulture . Thailand continues to be an important and growing market for Australian almonds and we look forward to exhibiting at Thaifex ( Anuga Asia ) in Bangkok next May .
