AS Aussies showed appreciation to the ones they love on Valentine ’ s Day this year , Australian Almonds ( The Almond Board of Australia ) reminded consumers that eating a handful of almonds every day as part of a balanced diet can help to keep the heart healthy . City professionals in Sydney , Melbourne and Brisbane were treated with complementary samples of almonds , packaged in a convenient reusable metal heart-shaped tin as they head into the office . Almonds are rich in healthy monounsatured fats , which help protect the heart , as well as packed with protein , vitamins , minerals and antioxidants . “ Australian Almonds are a portable healthy snack on the go . We provided Australian city workers a convenient reusable tin that holds the recommended 30 grams of almonds per day to support a healthy heart and it can easily be packed into laptop or gym bag each morning ,” said

“ Research shows a handful of almonds eaten every day as part of a balanced diet can lower LDL ( low-density lipoprotein ) or ‘ bad ’ cholesterol .” Almonds are a versatile snack on their own , but they can also be used in a wide range of savoury and sweet recipes . Overall , the activation was a huge success , with over 7,000 heart tins sampled across all three states .
Consumers ' sentiment was very positive , with people stopping to find out more about Australian almonds and where the almonds are produced in Australia . The Almond Board of Australia is committed to learn more about how almonds can help address public health concerns and promote healthy lifestyles .
