Introduction - Package free convenience store

Just having the nice eco-friendly products
is not enough. We need to retailers to
support to make it happen. In the past 2-3
years, there are more and more package
free grocery stores opening in Hong Kong
for example Edgar and Live Zero. However,
the scale is still relative small.
Bring clean
containers
Idea:
We can divide Convenience store into 2 zones:
1. package free zone (lower price)
2. standard package zone
For those products like ice-cream which
are unavoidable, they will be placed in the
standard zone with original packaging,
a recycling machine will be there to handle
waste. For products like cakes and snacks,
they will be placed in containers for
selection on volume.
Customers need to buy the food or drinks
with their own container. We will also sell
containers or bottles, in case people want
to buy something ad hoc. We will link this
to a credit scheme for using your own
containers.
This will be very appealing to convenience
stores to get on board as the competition
now is so fierce, tapping into the trend of
sustainability can be a key differentiator
for them.
Convenience store are the most often
visited places where people hang out,
where they usually buy food and soft
drinks.
Place a dishwasher-safe tag on the
container, tap it, & weigh it. Mark the
weight on the tag. This tag will always
remember the weight of your empty
container.
