Details - Cigarette Butt & Ash Component
From our interviews with garbage throw-
ers, cigarette fumes is one of the biggest
pain points across all non-smokers. During
our desktop research, we discovered that
plants, to be more specific air purifying
plants like Peace Lily, Spider Plants and
Chrysanthemums can reduce the smell
from cigarettes. Therefore, one of the add
on components we are proposing is an
integrated cigarette butt and ash tray with
plant pot on top.
When the team started looking into how
the plants can be fertilized, we found that,
cigarette ash, residue of tobacco after
burning, actually contains elements that
are beneficial to the growth of plants and
can be used as fertilizer. All we need to do
is to add water and hydrochloric acid to
the ash in order to adjust the pH value to
neutral.
