JAC K TEENAGER “Today I feel like I want to be a good citizens so I recycle” AGE: 19 LOCAL UNIVERSITY STUDENT LIVES IN SOUTH HORIZONS STUDIES IN HUNG HOM HANG OUT IN MONG KOK & CAUSEWAY BAY “The pace in HK is too fast, I don’t want to think much, just want to throw and settle” “In UK I will recycle as other students will do it, and I have less intention to buy plastic bottles and tissue” KNOWLEDGE • Has habit of recycling only in UK when everyone does, when there are lots recycling bins in school • Passive role – they don’t give me plastic, I won’t ask, but if they give me I won’t say no” • Not aware that there’s new garbage news • Not aware of the related news and policy, but he knows the color for recycling as that was learnt since small ACTION Waste disposal • Usually carries and throws garbages when he sees a bin • 2 key garbage types are plastic bottles and tissue • Sometimes they are so full, he will throw into plastic bags aside Recycling • Only recycled a bottle once in HK In UK: • Friends group rubbish into categories intuitively in dorm (no recycling bins), he follows and separates rubbish • Go into coffee shop instead of getting plastic bottled drinks THINKING AND FEELING Garbage Bin • Smell of ash makes me feel bad • Don’t like the cover design that needs me to push, feel like throwing rubbish should be throwing into a hole
