Let us extend our heartfelt gratitude and congratulations to all the 2025-2026 Project InTouch( PIT) recruiters. With their unwavering efforts, we witnessed the enrollment of an impressive 561 new members, thanks to the dedication of 37 PIT recruiters. A resounding congratulations to Illiana Hernandez, Barnes-Jewish College / Goldfarb School of Nursing, St. Louis, MO, who emerged as the PIT Grand Prize winner.
As we bid farewell to the academic year, it is time to set our sights on the upcoming recruitment campaign. While fall may seem distant, the summer presents an opportune moment to prepare and alleviate the workload before the new school year commences. Ideally, our campaigns should be in full swing by August.
Here are some ideas to help launch a successful recruitment campaign:
n Extend a warm welcome to prospective members and current nursing students who have not yet joined your organization. Make your first meeting engaging by combining important business matters with interactive and exciting programming. Create an inclusive atmosphere by introducing new attendees to both the group and the organization. Encourage participants to share ideas, ask questions, and offer suggestions to help foster a supportive and welcoming environment.
n Host a virtual or in-person presentation in partnership with your local SNA chapter. Provide access to membership brochures, informational pamphlets, discount coupons, and links to Imprint, our online magazine and a valued membership benefit. Keep these materials accessible throughout the year to support ongoing recruitment efforts.
n Incorporate the“ Catch the Wave” recruitment video into meetings or orientation sessions. The video features inspiring stories from successful nurses who
share their professional journeys and experiences. Additional recruitment tools and resources are available on the NSNA Membership Recruitment Resources page.
n Use the NSNA membership brochure, PowerPoint presentation, or brief informational materials to highlight members in action and showcase the benefits of membership. Discuss opportunities such as discounts, access to Imprint magazine, leadership development, and networking opportunities. Emphasize that chapter members are fellow nursing students who understand the challenges of nursing school and can provide encouragement and support throughout the academic year and beyond. Personal stories and convention experiences can also help make your presentation more impactful.
n Engage faculty members, deans, and advisors as advocates for NSNA involvement. Their experience with professional nursing organizations and mentorship can help encourage student participation and strengthen recruitment efforts.
n Promote early engagement by collaborating with faculty to connect with incoming nursing students during orientation programs. You can also work with instructors of prerequisite courses to request permission to briefly speak with prospective students or leave informational flyers and recruitment materials for students to review.
