for Medicare and Medicaid ( CMS ) announced that routine foot care provided by a Certified Foot Care Nurse ( CFCN ) could be covered when supervised by a podiatrist . This development is excellent news for podiatry practices and patients alike , as increasing access to skilled and competent providers improves both care quality and health outcomes . No matter the setting , the role of a foot care nurse is incredibly rewarding . The demand for foot care services is growing rapidly and will continue to rise as the population ages . By 2030 , it ’ s projected that 1 in 5 Americans will be 65 years or older , making this specialty more essential than ever .
