Bio
Karen Crowley , DNP , APRN- BC , WHNP , ANP , CNE is the Vice President of Nursing , Education , Research , and Practice at the Association of Women ’ s Health , Obstetrics , and Neonatal Nursing ( AWHONN ). In her current role at AWHONN , she has executive oversight of nursing educational , practice and research resources , partnerships , outreach , and collaborations . She works collaboratively with the membership team in creating student and new nurse initiatives during their transition to practice in the woman ’ s health , obstetric , and neonatal nursing specialty fields .
Prior to AWHONN , she worked as a registered nurse in labor and delivery / postpartum for eight years . She then received her master ’ s degree in nursing from Simmons College and was certified as an Adult and Women ’ s Health Nurse Practitioner and her Doctor of Nursing Practice degree . She maintained clinical practice in her nurse practitioner role for more than 20 years ; in that role she actively precepts nurse practitioner students . Dr . Crowley also held academic positions including tenured associate professor and associate dean .
