 Advice for Future Nursing Students
As she reflects on her journey, Villano advises those following in her footsteps: Relax. Take a deep breath. Your grades don’ t define you.
“ Nursing school is challenging, but your test scores won’ t determine the kind of nurse you’ ll be,” she says.“ Everyone’ s journey is different, and comparing yourself to others only makes it harder. Enjoy the time you have in school. In the end, we all earn the same degree and enter the same profession.”
Looking ahead, Villano is grateful for her experiences at UConn and through NSNA. From that first high school medical careers class to leading a statewide student nursing organization, her journey has been shaped by curiosity, perseverance, and a strong sense of community. And as she prepares to take the next step in her career— which looks like pediatric nursing— she’ s carrying those lessons with her, ready to make a difference in the lives of her future patients.
